Museums and archives are necessary tools in preserving history and cultural identity of peoples and nations. Based on the fact that Montenegro does not have an institution that deals with research and preservation of the history and cultural heritage of AiM, we took upon ourselves to establish The Digital Archive of AiM - www.arkiva.me. We hope that this will be the first step on a journey towards the establishment of a much needed Museum and Institute of History and Cultural Heritage of AiM.
The digital archive, ARKIVA.ME, aims to collect, digitize, present and distribute digital artifacts of different formats related to AiM. Digital artifacts include photographs, documents, maps, video recordings, books and newspaper articles. We believe that this project will not only contribute in preserving the history and cultural heritage of AiM but will serve as a useful tool to all researches in the country and abroad. We must not forget that preservation of the history and culture of AiM is preservation of the Albanian, Montenegrin and European heritage.
Digital Archive of AiM was established in November of 2020 and its collection is growing by the day thanks to the tireless work of our staff & volunteers.
